Every year in order to commemorate World Book Day, the Schools Library Services in collaboration with the MSLA organises two competitions for the Primary and Secondary schools. This they do in an attempt to pass on the message loud and clear that books are an essential part of learning and that they can also be fun.
As in previous years, our school was represented by a number of students and this year won the first prize. During a ceremony that was held at Guze Delia Hall, St. Ignatius College Siggiewi Primary, Michaela Borg (203) was awarded the first prize (€ 75 worth of books) while our school library was awarded € 235 worth of books.
In conjunction to this, a number of school based competitions were organised by the teacher librarians: poem and essay writing for all forms, designing a bookmark (forms 1 and 2), designing a book cover (forms 3 to 5). All students were encouraged to participate and all works handed in were exhibited in a prominent place in the foyer of Block C.
The best three entries from each category were awarded a prize sponsored by Agius & Agius and Merlin Library while all participants received a certificate of participation.
